Over halfway through the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League season, the teams are falling into familiar ground.

The Wilkie Brewers have rolled off five straight wins going into action Thursday. Tuesday, the Brewers' bats started quietly in Silver Lake against Standard Hill, but they rallied, scoring one run in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh to win 9-6.

Jared Herle and Bye Braun were on the mound for the Brewers, while Brad Holfeld and Garry Pauls pitched for the Lakers.

Thursday was similar for the Brewers, as Mervin held the bats at bay for half of the game. Rick Cey and Nick Pernitsky led Wilkie's offence, as both hit two home runs in the 13-6 victory. Robert Cey was the winning pitcher.

Wilkie was tied for the second spot in the NSRBL standings with a 6-2 record.

Unity had a slow week, playing just one game in six days. The Cardinals moved to 5-2 on the season with a 4-0 win at home against the Midwest Expos. Thursday, the Cardinals were at home to the Lloydminster Junior Redhawks.

Also with five wins on the season, the North Battleford Beavers are on a three-game winning streak. The Beavers were in Lloydminster to play the Border City Blue Jays June 14 and won 4-1. Jared Inkster earned the complete game, four-hit win while striking out eight batters. The Jays' ace, Colbey Field, allowed six hits and struck out 10, while allowing just one earned run in the loss.

The St. Walburg Reds lost three straight games, the most recent coming at the hands of the Meadow Lake White Sox last week. The Reds were scheduled to play Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to rain.

Mervin is 0-8 on the season with their most recent loss being a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Lloydminster Meridian Twins Monday. Mervin were scheduled to play Wednesday against Meadow Lake, but no score was reported at press time.

Standard Hill was the other winless team on the season, as they hold a 0-9 record. The Lakers were scheduled to play Kindersley Thursday.

The top effort of the week in the NSRBL came from Quincey Winkler of Meadow Lake. Winkler and the White Sox faced the Border City Blue Jays Sunday in the second half of a double header. Winkler allowed three hits and struck out 17 batters in a 7-2 win.
