They were built to win a championship, but the Humboldt Broncos won't be satisfied with just the Canalta Cup in their trophy case.

The Broncos were the best team in the regular season in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and proved they deserved that praise as they won the SJHL league championship over Weyburn and now turn their attention to the Anavet Cup.

The Broncos beat Weyburn 6-0 in game six Friday to win the league title after beating the Battlefords North Stars in six games in the Bauer Conference final and the La Ronge Ice Wolves in four straight games in their first round of the playoffs.

The Broncos fired 255 shots at the Weyburn net allowing just 144 against in the series and out scored the Red Wings 22-13.

The Broncos start the final Anavet Cup series with the Portage Terriers, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champs, Friday in Humboldt. Game two will also be played in Humboldt Saturday before the series shifts to Manitoba for the next three games if necessary. Games three, four and five are scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Portage. If the series goes to game six and seven they will be played back in Humboldt Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29.

Whether the Broncos win or lose the Anavet Cup they, along with Portage will automatically play for the RBC Cup. Humboldt will get in as the host team while Portage qualifies as the Saskatchewan/Manitoba representative.

The RBC Cup will take place in Humboldt May 5 to 13.

Robbie Ciolfi, who was dangerous in the SJHL Bauer Conference final against the North Stars, led the SJHL in goals in the playoffs with 15 in 16 games. He also led the playoffs in points with 24.

Weyburn's Coltyn Sanderson was second with nine goals and nine assists in 17 games.

Humboldt's goaltender Matt Hrynkiw led all playoff goaltenders with a .933 save percentage in nine games and two shutouts.

Mitch Kilgore of the Red Wings had three shutouts in the playoffs and the same save percentage as Hrynkiw in 15 games played.
