Broncos and Mustangs both scramble to find the puck, hidden amongst their skates, during the first period of the Humboldt-Melfort game at the Elgar Petersen Arena on December 13. The Broncos eventually found the Melfort net with the puck three times, though not on this play, to win 3-2.

There was a lot of puck movement, and not a lot of scoring, but the end result was another win for the Humboldt Broncos.
The Broncos took on the Melfort Mustangs at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt on December 13. The Broncos slowly built their lead over three periods, only to almost lose it in the third.
Dylan Fluter of the Broncos scored their first goal of the night at 16:50 of the first period, assisted by Joey Davies and Riley Kieser.
Kameron Ballas made it a 2-0 game for Humboldt with a goal at 16:53 of the second, assisted by Taylor Johnson and Andrew Johnston.
But in the third, Melfort poured on the gas, and finally managed to get the puck past Bronco goaltender Matt Hrynkiw at 1:50 of the period.
The Broncos managed another goal, once again in the 16th minute of the period. Josh Roach got their third point of the night at 16:28, assisted by Ballas and Johnston.
Down 3-1, in the final minutes of the period, the Mustangs called a time out to regroup. And they managed to score a second goal at 19:04 to bring the game to within one.
But a tie was not in the cards. The final minute ticked away without another point, giving the Broncos their sixth win in a row.
Neither team was able to score on the power play, though Melfort got three, and Humboldt, two.
Penalties in the game were very few and far between, unusual for a game between these two rivals. Humboldt earned just four in 60 minutes of play, while the Mustangs had just three.
Shots on goal were as close as actual goals throughout the game. The Broncos outshot the Mustangs by a narrow 39-37 margin.
Stars of the game included Johnston and Hrynkiw of the Broncos, and Mustang goalie, Jesse Wilkins.
This was the Broncos' last home game of the calendar year. Their next home game is against the Notre Dame Hounds on New Year's Day.
