The Humboldt Broncos fumbled away valuable points with a 3-1 loss to the Kindersley Klippers in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action from Kindersley on Jan. 24.
The loss was costly for the Broncos as they failed to leapfrog the Notre Dame Hounds for fifth in league standings.
The game got off to about as poor a start as possible for the green and gold as Curtis Peck put the home side ahead 1-0 with his seventh goal of the season, just 36 seconds in.
Nick Shumlanski got the Broncos on the board with an unassisted marker at 6:52, but Peck refused to let the game hit the first intermission tied as he scored his second of the period at the 18:28 mark giving the Klippers a 2-1 lead.
Peck was at it again in the second as he set up Devon Cyr on a shorthanded breakaway, giving the Klippers a 3-1 lead after two periods.
Unfortunately for the green and gold that would be it as they fired 14 shots on goal in the third but could not beat Klippers netminder Justen Close, giving the Klippers the 3-1 win.
Parker Tobin was charged with the loss in the Broncos goal allowing three goals on 35 shots as the Broncos were outshot by the Klippers 35-30.
The green and gold will have their next chance to get back in the win column when they return home on Jan. 26 for a matchup against the last place La Ronge Ice Wolves.
