The Humboldt Broncos completed a perfect weekend with a 7-2 win over the Yorkton Terriers in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action, from Yorkton.
The Dec. 3 win saw the Broncos collect a home-and-home sweep of the Terriers, outscoring Yorkton 15-5 in the process.
The game got off to a solid start for the Broncos as Conner Lukan scored the game’s opening goal, for the second straight night, at 4:51 to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.
After the Terriers scored to tie the game at 18:56, Jaxon Joseph put the Broncos back in front with his ninth of the season to send the game into the first intermission with the Broncos in front 2-1.
The late goal proved to be important for the Broncos as they rode that momentum to a trio of second period goals as Lukan, Joseph, and Derek Patter all found the back of the net giving the Broncos a 5-1 lead after two periods.
Brayden Camrud added an early third period goal for his tenth of the season, giving the Broncos five unanswered goals.
The Terriers stopped that streak later in the period before Layne Matechuk wrapped up the scoring with his fourth of the year.
Parker Tobin, making his first start in a Broncos jersey, picked up the win turning aside 23 of the 25 shots he faced as the Broncos outshot the Terriers 38-25.
The Broncos now travel to the Battlefords on Dec. 5 for a showdown with the North Stars.
