The Humboldt Broncos busted out of their five game losing streak in a big way as they piled up eight goals in an 8-3 win over the Yorkton Terriers in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action from Humboldt.

The Dec. 2 contest saw the Broncos score eight goals snapping a streak of five straight games where they failed to top three.

The game got off to an excellent start for the Broncos as Conner Lukan put the Broncos in front 1-0 just 1:55 into the game, but their lead did not last long as the Terriers tied the game less than three minutes later.

Brayden Camrud put the Broncos back in front with his eight of the season on the power play, and Lukan added his second of the night less than five minutes later as the Broncos ran out to a 3-1 lead.

Just 14 seconds after Lukan made it 3-1, the Terriers responded with their second of the night to cut the Broncos’ lead to 3-2.

That was as close as the Terriers would get as Bryce Fiske and Jaxon Joseph scored nine seconds apart, just over a minute later to put the Broncos in front 5-2 after the first period.

After a frenetic first 20 minutes the two teams slowed down in the second as the Terriers scored the lone goal of the period with just 30 seconds left sending the game into the third period with the Broncos in front 5-3.

Despite giving up a late goal the Broncos were unfazed and came out in the third period and put the game away as Camrud, Graysen Cameron, and Humboldt native Morgan Gobeil all found the back of the net.

Gobeil’s goal was the first of his SJHL career.

Sam-Jaxon Visscher picked up the win in the Broncos cage turning aside 23 of the 26 shots he faced as the Broncos outshot the Terriers 61-26.
