A wide margin.
That's what the Humboldt Broncos beat the Melfort Mustangs by in their Thanksgiving weekend showdown in Melfort.
The Broncos travelled to the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort on October 8, and walked away with a 7-2 win.
The Broncos scored first, netting a goal at 1:37, scored by Taylor Johnson and assisted by Robbie Ciolfi and Andrew Johnston.
They made it a 2-0 game with a point by Neil Landry at 9:36. Riley Kieser got the assist.
Another goal, this time on the power play, wrapped up scoring in the first period. Humboldt's Ciolfi got the point at 19:23, assisted by Josh Roach and Johnston.
In the second, the Broncos added to their growing total of points with a goal by Kieser, assisted by Landry at 8:05, and then another by Matt Glowa, assisted by Ryan Marshall and Andrew Herle at 11:08.
To make it a 6-0 game, Humboldt's Roach netted another point, assisted by Johnston and Ciolfi, at 12:11.
The Mustangs finally got on the board with a point at 15:46 of the second, and added a second at 17:46. But they couldn't get another puck past Bronco goalie Deven Dubyk.
The Broncos, meanwhile, managed another point in the third, scored by Johnston, assisted by Johnson and Hudema, at 18:38.
Penalties in this game were surprisingly light, given the perpetual rivalry between the two teams.
Not a single fight broke out, and only minor penalties for charging, roughing, slashing, high-sticking and interference were handed out.
Humboldt was one for three on the power play, while the Mustangs were zero for three. Humboldt also outshot the Mustangs 41 to 30.
All three stars of the game were Broncos - Ciolfi, Johnston and Mathew Backhouse.
