Home ice was better for the Humboldt Broncos as they faced the Weyburn Red Wings for the second time in a week on December 14.
Unlike what happened in Weyburn, the Broncos dominated the play for the entirety of the game, posting a 4-1 victory.
The Broncos started off the scoring almost as soon as the puck was dropped.
John Lawrence, newly returned to the lineup after a major upper body injury sidelined him for a couple of months, got the point at the 18-second mark. Cody Pettapiece and Cody Pongracz got the assists.
The Wings successfully killed off a power play in the first, but Humboldt still managed to get another by goaltender Nate Ferris at 18:22, thanks to Carter Page, assisted by Rhett Blackmur.
In the second, the Broncos got a power-play point thanks to Logan Sproule, assisted by David Stumborg at 6:24, to make it a 3-0 game.
Weyburn finally pulled themselves together for a goal at 17:09 of the third period, but yanking their goalie in the final minute was not a move that paid off for them.
The Broncos got a goal on that empty net at 19:44, scored by Joey Davies.
Penalties were relatively light throughout the game, with the Broncos earnings six and the Wings, seven.
The Broncos were one for seven on the power play, while the Wings were zero for six.
Just 425 people attended the game in Humboldt that night.
Matt Hrynkiw was in net for Humboldt.
The Broncos are still down two players due to major lower body injuries. Braeden Laroque has been out since early this season, and last week, Neil Landry suffered a serious injury that could keep him out of the lineup for a while.
