Five in a row, 5-0.
The Humboldt Broncos won 5-0 over the Melfort Mustangs at the Elgar Petersen Arena on November 13, getting to their fifth win in a row on their most-recent streak.
Though Melfort thought they had scored first - a goal near the 9:30 mark of the first period was called off as the puck had been kicked in - Joey Davies got the first official goal of the evening, unassisted, at 14:38 of the first period.
That was quickly followed by a goal by Cody Pongracz at 15:37, on a power play, assisted by Davies and Ballas.
Neil Landry got Humboldt's third goal just 50 seconds into the second period, on another power play. Davies got the assist again.
Dylan Fluter added number four for the Broncos just 20 seconds later, scoring on a pass from Adam Antkowiak from Adam Zbitniff.
Davies was back in the driver's seat for the last goal of the night, which he scored at 9:03 of the second period, assisted by Landry and Pongracz.
The third period was more about penalties than scoring, with the Broncos recording two - one for interference and another for goaltender interference, and the Mustangs also getting two, one for tripping and another for slashing.
The Mustangs were zero for three on the power play, while the Broncos were two for four.
A total of 598 people attended the game.
Davies, goaltender Matt Hrynkiw and Pongracz were named the three stars of the game.
The home-and-home series between the Broncos and Mustangs continued on November 16, when the Broncos headed to the Northern Lights Palace in Melfort.
There, they were again able to score five goals, but goalie Matt Hrynkiw did allow the Mustangs to get one in the Humboldt net.
It was Cody Pongracz who started the scoring in Melfort, at 8:08 of the first period. Cody Pettapiece and Neil Landry got the assists.
Joey Davies made it a 2-0 game with a goal at 2:05 of the second, assisted by Logan Sproule and Pongracz.
Ryan Aubertin added a third goal for Humboldt on a power play at 6:16 of the second. Pettapiece and David Miazga got the assists on that point.
Dylan Fluter, newly returned to the lineup, got yet another point for Humboldt in the second period, putting one behind Melfort goaltender Patrick Johnson at 12:10. Assisting on that goal were Adam Antkowiak and David Stumborg.
Melfort got on the board for the first time in two games with a goal at 11:29 of the third, scored by Brennen Boskovich.
Humboldt got to their five-goal total with a point by Landry, assisted by Davies, at 17:29 of the third.
Part of the reason Melfort likely had trouble scoring was that they spent much of the third period in the penalty box.
While the Broncos were put in the box only three times in the entire game, giving Melfort a power play once a period, the 'Stangs got seven penalties in the third period alone.
Slashing, cross-checking, boarding, roughing and butt-ending calls were all made, and Brandon Formosa got a 10-minute misconduct on top of his two minutes for slashing at 10:24 of the third.
The Broncos managed only one power-play goal in the game, going one for eight, while the Mustangs were zero for three.
All three stars of the game were Broncos - Pongracz, Davies and Antkowiak.
The win gave the Broncos a sixth in a row.
