It took some doing, but the Humboldt Broncos added another game to their win column in Melville over the weekend. The Broncos faced the Millionaires at their rink of November 4, and with contributions by more than a handful of team members, came home with a victory. David Miazga of the Broncos kicked off the scoring on a power play at 3:17 of the first period, assisted by Cody Pongracz and Neil Landry. The Mils tied the game at one with a power-play goal of their own at 9:29, but the Broncos took back the lead with another power-play point, this one by Cody Pettapiece, assisted by Joey Davies and David Stumborg, at 14:56.The Broncos added an important insurance goal at 15:15 of the first period, thanks to Adam Antkowiak, assisted by Adam Zbitniff, to make it 3-1 going into the second. In the second, the Broncos added to their lead with a goal by Dylan Fluter at 8:07, assisted by Tyler Morwick and Rhett Blackmur. Then the Mils scored two points at 13:48 and 14:53 to make it 4-3 heading into the third period. In the third, the Broncos added another insurance goal at 8:52, thanks to Ryan Aubertin, assisted by Morwick and Fluter. And while the Mils added another point of their own at 11:05, that was all she wrote for scoring, and the game ended with the Broncos up 5-4. Penalties in the game were minimal, with the Broncos recording five in total - four in the first period - all of them minor. The Mils' four penalties were also all minor.The Broncos outshot the Mils 43 to 33, and went two for four on the power play, while Melville was one for five. Two Broncos - Aubertin and Fluter - were named among the three stars of the game. The second star position went to Russell Trudeau of the Mils, who scored two of their four goals.
