It was a relatively quiet trip to Saskatoon for Calico Gymnastics Club, as they sent just ten gymnasts to compete in Junior Olympic 3-7 events at the 2018 Marian Classic Invitational Gymnastics Meet on Feb. 11.
With just ten gymnasts competing in those events, Calico struggled to post top results as they claimed just a single individual event podium finish, and failed to reach the podium in any all around competition.
Junior Olympic 3 (2009-2010)
The Junior Olympic 3 competition for gymnasts born in 2009 or 2010, was Calico’s busiest event, with four gymnasts in action.
Alexis Gebauer claimed the top finishing position for Calico in the event, claiming 12th All Around, while Jordan Zazula finished tied for 16th All Around, Ava Emms in 20th All Around, and Kennedy Bley in 22nd All Around.
Junior Olympic 3 (2008)
Annika Turnbull was the lone Calico gymnast to compete in the Junior Olympic 3 competition for girls born in 2008.
Turnbull matched her birth year with an 8th place finish in the All Around competition.
Junior Olympic 3 (2005-2006)
Rounding out the Junior Olympic 3 competitors was Kenzie Pavelich, who competed in the competition for girls born in 2005 and 2006.
It was a decent competition for Pavelich as she claimed a 15th place finish in the All Around competition.
Junior Olympic 6 (2007-2009)
Calico’s second largest event contingent came in the Junior Olympic 6 event for girls born between 2007 and 2009 as both Raya Wacker and Teagan Zazula were in action.
Wacker claimed the lone podium finish for Calico, grabbing second on the bars, which helped her claim a 6th place finish in the All Around competition.
Finishing just two spots behind her was teammate Zazula, who claimed an 8th place All Around finish.
Junior Olympic 6 (2004 & Before)
Also competing in Junior Olympic 6 action, was Mickayla Adair, who competed in the 2004 & before category.
Adair put forth a decent effort at the competition, managing an 18th All Around finish.
Junior Olympic 7 (2005 & Before)
Rounding out the Calico gymnasts was Taryn Stock, who enjoyed the most consistent effort, finishing no lower than 8th in any event, as she finished in 8th in the All Around competition.
Calico gymnasts will now enjoy a couple of weeks off before returning to competition on Feb. 24 for the Queen City Gymnastics Invitational in Regina Feb. 24-26.
