At the Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Que., Simon Hauser of Pilger has qualified for the triple jump final, to be held Aug. 15. Hauser will also be competing in the long jump today. Earlier he told the Journal that the triple jump was his best event.
Hauser's brother Kurt finished in 25th place in the time trial road race. Kurt finished with the best time of any Team Saskatchewan rider. He will be competing in the 120km road race today.
Lindsey Larson of Humboldt and her women's volleyball teammates helped lead Saskatchewan to a 7th place finish. The team finished with a record of 2-3 in pool play and did not qualify for the quarter-finals.
Kelsey Teneycke and the women's softball team finished 5th in their tournament. In their nine opening round games the team went 5-4.
Marquinhos Henderson of Watson and his teammates lost their opening game of the men's soccer tournament, a 6-1 defeat to Alberta. Their next game is against Newfoundland and Labrador and they will need at least a tie to have any hope of advancing beyond pool play.
Garret Blair of Lanigan will begin his quest for a medal on the golf course today.
