In Moose Jaw Nov 16 to 18, the members of the Ford Curling Centre in conjunction with CurlSask hosted the second Junior Women's Qualification Bonspiel.

Four curlers from the Twin Rivers Curling Club - Lisa Chambers (skip), Morgan Nyholt (third), Tessa Briscoe (second) and Jordan Hope (lead) - and coach Colleen Voinorosky set their sights on winning one of the four berths to qualify for the Junior Women's Provincial playdowns to be help at the Northland Power Curling Centre in North Battleford, Dec. 27 to 31.

Team Chambers played team Kitz from Oxbow, and team Hanmer from Govan Friday Nov. 16 and won both games. Saturday morning they played team Michaluk and lost after the opposition scored big ends in the latter part of the game. This loss dropped Team Chambers to the B event, but the loss did not detract them from their goal.

They rebounded Saturday afternoon by defeating team Jones from Regina, and team Erickson Saturday night. Sunday morning they again played team Michaluk in the B final and won the game on an amazing last rock takeout by skip Chambers.

This was the second qualifying attempt for Team Chambers. In Yorkton at the first qualifying spiel they lost to the two teams that ended up qualifying in the B and C events. The team learned from the loss and came back with a new determination, evidenced by their success in Moose Jaw.

Now the girls will compete in a 12-team provincial final where the winner will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian Junior Championship in Liverpool N.S. The winner of the Canadian Championship will advance to the World Championships in Flims, Switzerland.

Matthew Taylor of the Twin Rivers Curling club is hoping to duplicate Team Chambers success. He and his teammates of Spenser Krepps, Mitch Schmidt, and Evan Schmidt played in Martinsville this past weekend, and did not secure a berth in the provincial championships. They are planning to sharpen their skills at a bonspiel in Prince Albert, in preparation for future qualifying events.
