Chuckwagons big and small

A main stay of entertainment at the Battlefords Ag. Society's Territorial Days have always been the provincial chuckwagons and chariots. Winning top honours in the chuckwagon races was Steven Galloway.

Chuckwagons were scheduled to run from Tuesday to Thursday during Northwest Territorial Days, but because of the weather Tuesday fans had just two chances to see the action.

A main stay of entertainment at the Battlefords Ag. Society's Territorial Days have always been the provincial chuckwagons and chariots.

Winning top honours in the chuckwagon races was Steven Galloway. Randy Schnell was second with Garth Sanderson taking third place.

In the chariot races Colleen Galloway was first, Keyton Beaubien was second with Adam Sanderson third.

The best-dressed wagon award was presented to Henry Dejarlais.

As for the bigger wagons, which were in North Battleford May 25 to 27, they were on the track in Turtleford last weekend. It was the last race before the championship in Lloydminster, which started Wednesday and ends Sunday.

Jamie Laboucane took the three-day aggregate title with a mark of 3:01.49 time.

Ray Mitsuing was also real fast in Turtleford finishing second with a 3:01.55 mark. Shane Nolin was in the running as well for top spot with a 3:01.83 time.

The Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association SIGA Pro Tour standings heading into the final event have Vern Nolin leading the pack with a 531.5 point total. In second is BJ Carey with 524 points and Devin Mitsuing is at 519.5 for third spot overall.
