The number and quality of nominations for 2013 Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame inductees was impressive according to president and CEO Jane Shury.
Sunday, Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum held their annual general meeting to review the year and also announce the new inductees, which will enter the hall of fame Aug. 17.
The list includes baseball players, teams and a family from across the country.
North Battleford's Brian Lampitt was nominated and selected this season along with Wilkie's Bill Sittler and Rodney Rhinehart of Maidstone.
Other individuals include Larry English, who now resides in Medicine Hat, Alta., but was originally form Hazlet, Elwood Ferguson of Lloydminster, Jim Flynn of Carlyle, Garnet Hannon of Kindersley, Neil Hogg of Swift Current, Ronald G McKechney of Estevan and Swift Current, Ira McKnight of Indianapolis, Ind., originally form Saskatoon, Wayne Pushch of Regina Beach, Rupert Talbot of Canwood and Larry Tollefson of Parksville B.C. and formerly of Moose Jaw.
In the family category the Kohlman family of Macklin will be honoured. Nazlet will be inducted in the community category and the Moose Jaw Regals and Jansen Red Sox will be inducted in the team category.
Along with the selection of the inductees, the board also welcomed some new members and new sponsors for the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
The museum is in good shape financially, but always welcomes more sponsors and people to volunteer to keep the museum in Battleford one of the community's and province's popular tourist attractions.
Plans to construct Canada's biggest bat continue with another fundraiser coming up this year, said Shury, who along with the help of her volunteers, is busy getting invitations and plans finalized for the inductions ceremony.
