The pucks drop in the opening round of games in Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League action this weekend.
The brand new Meota Combines, who play out of the North Battleford Civic Centre, will host the Maymont Settlers in their first home game of the season Sunday at 8 p.m.
The official league opening game gets underway at 8 p.m. Friday when the Cut Knife Colts host the Perdue Pirates.
The Beaver Blues see their first action in Shellbrook Saturday, Nov. 30 and their first home game is Saturday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m.
The Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League was founded in the summer of 2010 by a group of teams dedicated to providing quality hockey in small town Saskatchewan.
Other teams in the league are the Battlefords Beaver Blues, who play out of the Battleford Arena, Glaslyn North Stars, Hafford Mustangs, Radisson Wheatkings, Shellbrook Silvertips and Spiritwood Timberwolves.
The league's website states it is their mandate to "create, promote and maintain a working man's league."
