The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League's championship series got started Saturday as the first overall St. Walburg Eagles hosted the second overall Wilkie Outlaws.

It was quite the start to the series for the Eagles, but it was Wilkie stealing the game one win.

St. Walburg's top line of Trevor Bailey, Jordan Fuder and Trent Campbell scored four goals in the first period and Curtis Zerr added another for the home team.

Wilkie's Brett Schell scored a first period goal for the Outlaws and they trailed 5-1 after the first period.

The Eagles' Trent Nasby increased the lead to 6-1, but late in the second period the Outlaws started their comeback. David Schell scored twice in two minutes and Mitch Suchan had one between Schell's goals making it a 6-4 game.

Four minutes into the third period, Mike Sittler scored for Wilkie and with less than seven minutes left Andrew Herle tied the game.

The teams went to overtime, but it didn't last long as Herle scored a minute into the action to pick up the 7-6 win.

Jared Herle was in net for the Outlaws while Bryan Bridges patrolled the net for the Eagles.

Game two of the series is set for Friday in Wilkie.
