Coverchuk wins bull riding at 44th annual Kinsmen Indoor Rodeo

Cody Coverchuk's score of 84 points Friday night was good enough to win the bull riding competition at the 44th annual Kinsmen Indoor Rodeo.

North Battleford's Cody Coverchuk rode Snake Eyes to a first place finish at the 44th annual Kinsmen Indoor Rodeo inside the Civic Centre last weekend.

Coverchuk's score of 84 points was posted during the show Friday night and held up throughout the weekend. Dusty Lehmann from Kinsela, Alta., but has ties to Mayfair, placed second in the bull riding, posting an 83 on top of Spinner Friday night. Grenfell's Kory Ginnis finished in third place with a score of 81 after riding Slippery Sam Sunday afternoon.

In the saddle bronc event, Tyler Wilson of Meadow Lake tied for third place with Scott Lourance as both cowboys were awarded 73 points by the judges. North Battleford's Wyatt Thurston tied for fifth with Rhett Fitzpatrick from Wood Mountain. The cowboys were given scores of 72 points. Jeremy Harden from Regina rode American Legend to a first place score of 76. Piapot's Casey Bertram scored 74 points for second place.

Justin Bridgeman from Rapid City, Man. won the tie down roping competition by posting a time of 10.2 seconds Saturday night. Balgonie's Cody Getz finished in 10.9 seconds, which was enough for second place. Aaron Miller from Cremona, Alta. placed third with a time of 13.2 seconds.

Davidson's Scott Sigfusson edged Oxbow's Daniel Tober for first place in the steer wrestling competition. Siguffson finished one-tenth of a second ahead of Tober as the cowboy from Davidson posted a time of 6.3 seconds. Kal Kolvansky from Qu'appelle finished in third.

April Williamson from Mankota won the ladies' barrel racing with a time of 13.096 seconds. Donalda, Alta.'s Shannon Leguerrier's time of 13.158 seconds earned her a second-place finish. Renie Schnitzler from Vanscoy finished third with a time of 13.17 seconds.

Tyler Paicu and Brett Olson, from Avonlea and Southey respectively, won the team roping event by posting a time of 5.6 seconds. Waldeck's Scott and Tufin Mcleod's run of 6.6 seconds earned them second place. In third place, Tim Schnitzler and Mark Ellis from North Battleford put up a time of 7.4 seconds.

In junior events, Maple Creek's Hayden Briggs won the steer riding with a score of 76 points. Ashley Cleveland from Bengough won the girls' barrel riding competition by completing the track in 13.608 seconds.

Mason Helmeczi from Esterhazy won the novice bareback competition after the judges awarded a score of 68 points. Cody Resch won the novice saddle bronc with a score of 70 points.
