It was a busy weekend for the Humboldt AAA Midget Dodgers baseball team.
The Dodgers played two doubleheaders back to back July 9 and 10 in Regina.
"The boys played extremely well... We had four games in basically 24 hours," said coach Roger Gerwing.
They started out playing two games against the Regina Mets on Saturday, winning both games - the first 13-6 and the second 4-2.
The next day, they faced the Moose Jaw Cardinals. In the first game, the boys did quite well, winning 7-5.
"Once again the Dodgers rallied, scoring three runs in the seventh inning," said Gerwing. "Dean Jaeb pitched six solid innings, and Keenan Lucas came in and pitched the seventh."
The Dodgers lost the last game of the weekend 8-6.
"We were up 5-0 and then lost 8-6, but that was the fourth game and I think the guys were tired, mentally and physically," said Gerwing.
"You've got to be happy going on the road and coming back 3-1. Four games in 24 hours is a strain on your pitching and defence."
Although they lost the last game, it was a very successful weekend for the Dodgers, as they are now in first place in the league.
"Pitching, once again, was very solid, good defence, the bats came alive a little bit," said Gerwing.
In one of the games against Moose Jaw, the Dodgers faced Tanner Spencer on the mound.
"He pitches for the Canadian National Team and actually the boys hit them very well and knocked them out in the second inning," said Gerwing.
"They were happy about that, but not happy that they lost the game."
The Dodgers next game will be a home game on July 16, facing the Swift Current Indians. This will be their last home game of the season before the playoffs and Provincials.
