Dodgers head into playoffs in first position

In the final weekend of regular series games before the playoffs, the Humboldt Midget AAA Dodgers played another four games over two days, coming away with three wins and one loss.

In the final weekend of regular series games before the playoffs, the Humboldt Midget AAA Dodgers played another four games over two days, coming away with three wins and one loss.
On Saturday, July 16, the Dodgers faced the Swift Current Indians at the Uniplex diamonds, winning both of the seven-inning games against the visiting team, 7-2 and 10-6. In the first game, Craig McWillie pitched a strong six innings to get the win.
The next day, the Dodgers travelled to Saskatoon to face the DiamondBacks for another doubleheader. The team pulled together and won the first game 18-10. In the second game they fell down on their defence, which in the end cost them the game, 13-3 for the DiamondBacks.
In all, coach Roger Gerwing thought the team played well and is happy with the team's overall standing in the league.
With these last four games under their belt, the Dodgers are currently in first place standing in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League. Their total of 18 wins, six losses and no ties for the season gives them a total of 36 points.
Next weekend the team will travel to Saskatoon again for the premier league playoffs. The eight-team tournament is played over two days.
The end of the season for the Dodgers will be the last weekend in July at the SPBL provincials in Moose Jaw.
