Down the hill again

For the second time this season, Table Mountain hosted a SaskTel Sask Cup event and for the second time the local skiers fared well. It was a perfect weekend for Sarah Jones in the 17-19 ladies' division.

Sunday, 55 skiers took to the slopes at Table Mountain, as part of the second day of the SaskTel Sask Cup races. It was the second Sask Cup event at Table Mountain this season and the dozens of local skiers will have to opportunity to attend the Sask Cup final in March.

For the second time this season, Table Mountain hosted a SaskTel Sask Cup event and for the second time the local skiers fared well.

It was a perfect weekend for Sarah Jones in the 17-19 ladies' division. She was first both days while fellow team member Katelyn Byers was second both days

In the men's 17-19 category no local skiers competed, but racers from Prince Albert, Regina and the Qu'Appelle Valley Ski Club competed.

In the ladies' 15-16 division, Megan Jones was the lone local representative and finished sixth both days.

In the men's 15-16 division, Joshua Spanier raced Sunday representing the Table Mountain Ski and Board Club and placed first. Saturday the lone racer in that category was from Blackstrap.

Sarah Loy finished first both days in the ladies' 13-14 category. In second both days was Zoe Schultz.

R.J. Cook had a double first place weekend as well in the men's 13-14 division. R.J. was followed by teammates Ryan Abrahamson, Taylor Musgrave and Keifer Cosh Saturday. Sunday, Ryan and Keifer also competed.

In the ladies' 11-12 division, Keira Epp was the lone local racing and finished fourth Saturday and third Sunday.

Devin McAllister was first both days in the men's 11-12 category. Louis Lacoursiere, Eli Klassen, Liam Tkatchuk, Garrett Musgrave, Samuel Neufeld, Tyson Wawryk and Colton Turner followed in that order Saturday. Louis, Eli, Liam, Samuel and Tyson all competed along with Devin on Sunday, as well.

In the ladies' age eight to 10 division, Amy Lacoursiere placed first in both the Saturday and Sunday races. Seairra Stapleton and Abbey Neufeld rounded out the top three from Saturday's race. Sunday, Abbey was second with Emily Simon taking third. Shayna Fehr, Kathleen Abrahamson, Mackenna Vany, Dominique Heidel, Rowan Tkatchuk and Bailey Coulter all competed both days.

Nadine Fehr and Emily Stone raced Sunday only and finished in fourth and fifth place.

In the men's 8-10 division, Joshua Beaman won both days while Brycen Beaman and Connor Coulter both had second place finishes. Matthew Spanier and Jonah Simon also raced both days.

There was also one para-alpine racer hitting the slopes on the weekend from Regina.

The next Sask Cup race will be the final at Mission Ridge March 9 to 11 while the next event the local club will be competing in is the GS race in Asessippi, Man. Feb. 4 and 5.
