Following the SHSAA basketball conference playoffs, the regional tournaments have been set for the Road to HOOPLA.
The regional tournaments take place March 7-8.
In the 1A Boys' Conference 3 playoffs, St. Walburg and Luseland were eliminated in the first round. Lashburn defeated Kerrobert 60-51 in the final to qualify for regionals. At the Conference 7 playoffs, Maymont lost their opening game to Rosthern Junior College.
Lashburn will play Wolseley in the opening round of the 1A regional tournament Friday afternoon in Middle Lake.
At the 2A Boys' Conference 7 playoffs in Macklin, the Maidstone Huskies reached the championship game by beating the hosts in the second round. Maidstone lost to Thunderchild in the final, but both teams still qualified for the regional tournament. The Huskies meet Valley Christian Academy Friday night in the opening round of the 2A regional tournament Friday night in Osler. Thunderchild travel to Birch Hills to take on Caronport.
The Unity Composite High School Warriors reached the final of the 3A Boys' Conference 3 playoffs. The Warriors lost to Se-Se-Wa-Hum in the final, but still qualified for their regional tournament. Unity plays Humboldt in Indian Head to start the 3A regional tournament Friday night.
John Paul II Collegiate and North Battleford Comprehensive High School took part in the 4A Boys' Conference playoffs. The JPII Crusaders lost to Warman in the first round of the playoffs. The NBCHS Vikings fell to Meadow Lake in the semifinals, but advanced to the regional tournament. The Vikings will play Marion M. Graham Collegiate in Saskatoon Friday night in their first game of the regional tournament.
In the 1A Girls' Conference 3 playoffs in Wilkie, the hosts beat Luseland in the finals. Both teams advance to regionals for making the final. At the Conference 7 playoffs, St. Walburg downed Turtleford in the championship as both teams qualified for regionals. In Conference 8 action, Borden lost to Kinistino in the finals. However, Borden still makes it to regionals. Hafford was eliminated after losing to Borden in the first round.
At regionals, Turtleford plays top-ranked Kenaston Friday night in the first round. Other first round match ups Friday night see Wilkie play Gladmar in Kenaston, Borden and Kinistino square off in a rematch of their conference finals, St. Walburg takes on Filmore in Kinistino and Luseland meets Herbert in Middle Lake.
Lashburn hosted the 2A Girls' Conference 3 playoffs. The hosts defeated Paradise Hill in the finals as both teams qualified for regionals. To reach the championship, Paradise Hill downed Maidstone in the semifinals. At the regional tournament, Lashburn takes on Regina Christian in Foam Lake Friday night. Paradise Hill will meet Langham in the opening game of tournament.
At the 3A Girls' Conference 3 playoffs, the elimination game between Spiritwood and Minahik Waskahigan was cancelled. The Unity Warriors won the conference tournament by beating Macklin in the final. In their regional tournament, the Warriors travel to Indian Head to take on Esterhazy Friday night.
The 4A Girls' Conference 3 playoffs were contested at NBCHS. JPII lost their opening game to Warman. NBCHS fell to Warman in the championship. Despite losing, both JPII and NBCHS advanced to the regional tournament. The Crusaders from JPII travel to Moose Jaw to tip off against top-ranked Peacock Collegiate Friday. The NBCHS Vikings play Luther College Friday night in Wilcox.
The winner of each regional tournament will advance to participate in HOOPLA.
