The St. Walburg Eagles had a clean sweep of the regular season awards, as they were the regular season champions with a 15-2-1 record and earned a first round bye in the playoffs.
Along with the team accomplishments, the Eagles had the lowest goals against average with goaltenders Bryan Bridges and Trevor Novak. Bridges had the league's best goals-against average with a 2.48 mark. Novak was tied for fifth in the league with a 4.51 GAA.
Trevor Bailey led the league in scoring with 64 points and 30 goals. His line mate Trent Campbell was second with 59 points and 30 goals this season.
The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League's regular season ended on the weekend and playoffs got started Tuesday.
The fifth place Turtleford Tigers hosted the fourth place Edam 3 Stars. The teams traded first period goals, as Darren Delainey scored for Turtleford and Brody Tatchell tallied for the 3 Stars.
The score stayed the same until their was six minutes left in the third period. Adam Schwark scored for the Tigers and they claimed game one by a 2-1 score.
Jesse Ehnisz was the winning goalie with Quinton Gauthier in net for Edam.
Turtleford will have a chance to eliminate Edam from the playoffs Sunday, as game two of the best-of-three series will be playing Edam. If Edam wins game three will be played Wednesday in Edam as well.
Wednesday, the second place Wilkie Outlaws faced the seventh place Paradise Hill Hawks in Wilkie.
Game two of the series is scheduled for Monday in Paradise Hill with game three going Wednesday if necessary.
The rematch of last season's final series between Maidstone and Meadow Lake gets started Friday in Meadow Lake. The Stampeders finished third with a 10-7-1 record.
The second game of the series is scheduled for Sunday with game three going Tuesday if needed.
The second round of the playoffs will run Feb. 14 to 27 and is a best-of-five series.
The NSRHL also recently announced their All-Star teams. The first team included Bridges, Bailey, Campbell and Taylor Thiessen of St. Walburg along with Will Rathje of Wilkie and Turtleford's Adam Schwark.
The second team was made up of Wilkie's goalie Jared Herle, Turtleford defenceman Tyler Karst, Maidstone defenceman Troy Johnston, Edam forward Mitch Wall, Meadow Lake forward DJ King and St. Walburg forward Jordan Fuder.
