The Englefeld Eagles hosted the 1A Girls' Volleyball Provincial Championship tournament November 16-17, but didn't get to claim a medal.
While Pool A teams competed in the gym at Watson School, the Eagles faced the other Pool B teams in their home gym.
First, they took on the Fox Valley Legends, but fell 25-11 and 25-10 in two sets.
Next, they played the Milestone Cougars, and picked up a win in three sets - 24-26, 25-22, and 25-22.
The first and second sets were reportedly point-for-point battles to the end.
As momentum grew in the second set, Englefeld's Tanna Miskolczi and Payton Zimmerman led the Eagles to win. Throughout the game, the effort and smart plays of Englefeld's setter Crystal Kowalski made her stand out. Englefeld's momentum continued into the third set, gaining them an early lead, but Milestone fought back to bring the game to a tie at 10.
Both teams battled hard to the end, but Englefeld came out with the win.
The Eagles' next game was against the Colonsay Colts, a team that had won two sets to none over the Milestone Cougars, and over the Loreburn Aztecs.

That ended the tournament for the Eagles.
