The Edam North West Fury won the 16U men's bronze medal at the Conexus Provincial Volleyball Championship last weekend in Saskatoon and Warman.
After falling to the Saskatoon Junior Huskies in the semifinal, the Fury downed the Swift Current Junior Sundogs.
The Battleford Volleyball Club Thunder lost to the Prince Albert Volleyball Club Smashing Bananas in the quarter-finals. In the fifth place game, the Thunder fell 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) to the Regina Volleyball Club Gold.
Sunday's final in the 16U men's division saw the Smashing Bananas defeat the Junior Huskies 2-0 (25-16, 25-23) to win the provincial title. Prince Albert had previously beat the Junior Huskies in the final of Subway Sask Cup No. 2.
The next action for the 16U men is the Canadian Open May 17-19 in Calgary, Alta.
In the 13U women's tournament, the BVC Impact finished in 10th. The Impact lost the ninth place match 2-1 to the Saskatoon JCVC Fierce.
It was an all-Saskatoon title match in the final of this age group. The Smash won the provincial gold by beating the Junior Huskies 2-1 (25-23, 16-25, 15-9). In the bronze medal match, the Regina QCVC White Lightning beat the Wakaw Warriors 2-1 (25-19, 11-25, 15-6).
The BVC Blaze finished fourth in Tier 3 of the 14U women's provincial championship. The Prince Albert Optimist Toppers Fuerz topped the Blaze 2-1 (25-14, 17-25, 15-8). The Blaze fell to eventual Tier 3 champion Estevan Extreme in the semifinal
The Prince Albert Optimist Toppers En Fuego won the Tier 1 gold medal 2-0 (25-15, 25-18) over the Prince Albert Optimist Toppers Esprit. In the Tier 2 final, the Lanigan Blue won gold with a 2-0 (26-24, 25-15) win against the Muenster Volleyball Club. The Oxbow Black Knights beat the Prince Albert Volleyball Club Fusion 2-0 (26-24, 25-19) to win the Tier 4 final.
In the 14U men's provincial final, the Swift Current Junior Sundogs defended their top-ranked status by beating the Regina Volleyball Club Gold 2-0 (25-16, 25-22). The Junior Sundogs were undefeated throughout the tournament.
The Prince Albert Volleyball Club Smashing Bananas Gold won the bronze medal by defeating the Saskatoon JCVC Black 2-1 (25-21, 19-25, 15-8).
