Eight young men who live and breathe soccer have taken their game to the world stage in Regina.
The young Humboldtonians have been playing in the World Class Players (WCP) 2013 World Cup at the Credit Union EventPlex in Regina, which started March 22.
According to the event website, the WCP Cup Soccer Tournament and multicultural event has grown tremendously in the past eight years, exploding into a three-week event with over 1,200 participants (men, women and youth boys and girls), over 100 volunteers and more than 20,000 spectators expected.
Soccer players from across Saskatchewan, Canada and even other countries represent their nations of heritage in the WCP Cup. Each team has to have at least three players with the heritage of the country they are representing.
This is the first year the event will feature teams in the U-14 and U-12 age groups, reported Janine Hart, whose son will be playing on one of those teams.
Two older players - Marcus Henderson and Dylan Pappenfoot of Humboldt will be playing on the Bosnia U-16 team, though neither player is of Bosnian heritage, Hart reported.
