The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings were in search of their second win after coming off a 17-2 victory over Bedford Road Sept. 22, as they played Marion Graham in Saskatoon Friday.
The Marion Graham Falcons, who came into the game with the Vikings with a 2-2 record had other ideas and proved they are one of the elite teams in the league with a 46-11 win over the Vikings.
The Vikings faced some difficult decisions as to who would be the quarterback after having to deal with some injuries and make some roster adjustments earlier in the season.
The Vikings chose to have Cody Buziak behind centre and Cole Tenetuik, as an option for him on offence. Buziak passed for 126 yards and was 6/21. The Vikings also moved the sticks with the ground game, as Taylor Reiley had 76 yards on 16 carries, Spencer Cave, a linebacker who played both ways at times had 18 yards on three carries, Rob Gaetz had five yards on two carries and Tenetuik was back in the lineup and had three yards on two carries and the lone rushing touchdown for the Vikings.
The Vikings also had some help moving the ball down the field after 107 yards of penalties by Marion Graham, but the Falcons made several big plays and the defence bent but didn't break all game, leading them to their third victory.
The first big play of the game for the Falcons came in the first quarter when Joe Devine hit Tyson Sawatsky for a 77-yard touchdown pass. That was one of two passing plays for touchdowns from Devine to Sawatsky and the Falcons also found other ways to score Friday including a 65-yard fumble return, a 57-yard run by Sawatsky, a 75-yard punt return by Sawatsky and a one-yard touchdown run by Devine.
Dylan Chadwick hit a field goal from 13 yards out and kicked a single from 42 yards as well as a convert.
The Vikings trailed 7-3, 24-10, 46-10 and 46-11 by quarters and didn't appear to have an answer for the Falcons all game.
NBCHS will look to rebound and improve on their 1-3 record, as they next face Prince Albert Carlton at Beaver Lions Stadium Friday.
