It will be a dream come true for some local baseball teams.
The Muenster ball diamonds will get a face-lift thanks to some funding from the federal government, which was announced during a visit by Saskatoon- Humboldt MP Brad Trost to the village on March 13.
"There is a program known as the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund that provides supports for areas of improvement to existing community facilities," said Trost.
The Muenster Dugout Committee applied for $4,650 to fund upgrades to the Muenster ball diamond dugouts through the federal government grant.
"You guys have a ball diamond and some hard working people," said Trost. "This investment will serve to enhance the recreational services provided by the Village of Muenster."
Jim Korte, an avid baseball player and part of the Muenster Dugout Committee, explained the funds will help to expand the dugouts on the main diamond, as players need more space for themselves and their equipment.
"We have a great group of coaches, players and fans of all ages," said Korte. "Baseball people in Saskatchewan are jealous of our playing fields and the surrounding area."
Trost said grants like this are available because of the involvement of communities like Muenster.
"The reason we have smaller grants like this is often because of the feedback that we get from communities," said Trost.
He appreciates hearing feedback so the government can continue to help communities like Muenster in the future.
