The University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves' season came to an end March 16 when they were eliminated from the playoffs by St. Cloud State.
The Seawolves were swept after losing 6-1 and 5-1 on the weekend in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.
The Seawolves were just 4-25-7 on the season, but it was the impressive season of freshman forward Blake Tatchell who drew attention to the Seawolves.
Tatchell led his team in points with nine goals and 16 assists in 36 games. The team scored 67 goals this season and Tatchell factored in on 25 of them, an impressive 37 per cent.
Tatchell was the seventh highest scoring freshman in the WCHA this season.
The Battlefords North Stars' graduate, and North Battleford product, ended the season with the lone goal in the Seawolves' final game. At one point he carried a six-game point streak and the Seawolves never won a game when Tatchell didn't record a point. The team's record was 0-16-2 when he didn't factor in on the scoring.
Needless to say it was a strong first season for the forward and next season's expectations for Tatchell and the team will likely go up from here.
