Gardiner continues to shine at 2012 Youth Olympics Games

Team Canada's third game was on January 17 against Team Austria, whom they swept with a score of 9-0. Gardiner scored a goal for his team at 1:42 of the second period.
They played their last preliminary game the next day, January 18, against Team Finland. This time, Team Canada had to work a little harder for the win and the game went into a shootout.
Although Gardiner did not score any goals during the first three periods, he managed to make the winning shot during the shootout, ending the game 3-2.
With three wins and one loss in the preliminary games, Team Canada was guaranteed a spot in the semi-final.
The team played off against Team Finland in the semi-final on January 20. This time, Canada did not fair so well against Finland, who won the contest 2-1.
Although Gardiner did not score a goal during this game, he assisted on teammate Josh Carrick's goal at 4:17 in the first period.
After losing to Finland, Canada went on to play for the bronze medal against Team USA on January 21, winning the game 7-5.
This game, Gardiner was thick in the action, scoring a goal at 7:35 of the second period and assisting with four other goals.
Players and staff headed back to Canada on January 23.
Gardiner, who is playing for the Saskatoon AAA Contacts this season, was nominated to play for the team through the Program of Excellence through Saskatchewan Hockey.
