Jacy Akre needed to face just nine more shots to set the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League record when she faced the Saskatoon Stars. Take those nine shots she needed for the record and times it by nine and you'd be close to how many shots she faced Tuesday.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks hosted the Saskatoon Stars in their final regular season game in the Battlefords and lost 7-1.

Akre was named the Sharks' player of the game after facing 80 shots in 60 minutes and making 73 saves on the night.

The 80 shots give Akre a total of 1,625 saves spanning two seasons. She will add to the league record, as the Sharks have three games remaining and Akre is be eligible for one more season in the SFMAAAHL.

Akre allowed two goals on 22 first-period shots, two goals on 25 second-period shots and three goals on 33 third-period shots.

Jamie Fedler provided the lone Sharks' goal, as she broke the shutout with 21 seconds left on a penalty shot for her third goal of the season.

As for Akre, along with facing the most shots in league history, she is among the league leaders in games played for a goalie. She has played 43 games and moved into a tie for seventh all time. Akre's busy Tuesday night also gave her the title of most saves, 1,447, passing Weyburn alumnus Toni Ross, who had 1,427.

Akre and the Sharks will finish the regular season with two games in Weyburn this weekend and a game in Meadow Lake Feb. 17 against Prince Albert.

The Sharks are still uncertain who they will play in the first round of the playoffs as Saskatoon leads the league at this point with a 20-4-0-1 record and 41 points. Notre Dame is 19-2-1-0 and have 39 points with three games in hand. Either team could match up with the 1-24-0-0 Sharks.
