Many curlers in the Battlefords and area are anticipating the opening of the new Northland Power Curling Centre in the CUPlex and it is likely less than a month away when the season will begin.

Kathy McNinch, manager of the Northland Power Curling Centre, has released the Twin Rivers Curling Club schedule for league play for the up-coming season.

With most leagues expected to start after Thanksgiving, the excitement to get out on the ice is building. The schedule will feature 15 different league options for curlers of all skill and experience levels through the season.

Mondays will feature parent and tot curling from 10 to 11:30 a.m. for half the season. Monday at 6:30 and 8:45 p.m, will be the Open League and Ladies' League alternating.

Tuesday at the curling centre will be busy with the New Horizons on the ice at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Junior instructional curling will follow at 4 p.m. and will also run on Thursdays at the same time. Tuesday evening features Open Competitive and Men's League action.

The Light of Christ School Division will be curling Wednesdays at 4 p.m. starting in November with the Open League and Men's League alternating Wednesday evenings.

The 50+ League players will hit the ice Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. followed by junior instructional curling and the Open League and the Learn to Curl League alternating Thursday evenings.

Friday at 6:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. is the TGIF League and Doubles League going to mid-December.

Saturdays have been left open, which is when most tournaments and bonspiels will be played. Bonspiel dates have yet to be set, but one thing that is confirmed for the new curling centre is the Ladies' Northern Playdowns will be played Jan. 10 to 13.

Sunday, six-end family curling is offered at 1 p.m. and the Teen League for Grade 6 to 9 curlers will go at 3 p.m.

Wayne Cubbon will begin working on the ice in early October and once he gives the go-ahead, the curlers will hit the ice for the highly anticipated first season at the Northland Power Curling Centre.
