Getting set for fastball playoffs

It is coming down to the point in the season where teams are crunching the numbers and trying to determine where they fit into the Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League standings.

It is coming down to the point in the season where teams are crunching the numbers and trying to determine where they fit into the Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League standings.

The Northwest Vipers are sitting at a perfect 11-0 mark, but have three games either rained out and still to be played or scores not reported. The Vipers played a double header against the Unity Bantams earlier in the week making up a rained out game in the process. The Vipers beat the Bantam Panthers 9-0 and 16-1.

Sitting in second in the standings is Unity Midget Panthers. The Panthers have an unofficial record of 9-3 on the season. The Panthers played a make up game with the Battlefords Midget Bandits recently and won 6-2. The Panthers also participated in the Bandits tournament at the Flats on the weekend, but the tournament didn't finished due to rain Sunday. The Panthers have two games to be played in the regular season.

At 7-5-1 the Maidstone Iron Maidens are slotted into the third spot in the Battlefords and District Ladies' Fastball League standings. Maidstone played a double header Monday, as they split with the Unity Rustlers. Maidstone won the first game 12-3, but lost the second game 7-5 in Maidstone. The Iron Maidens have one game remaining in their regular season schedule.

At 6-4, the Battlefords Midget Bandits hold the fourth spot. The Bandits have four games not reported at this point and were scheduled to play the Unity Midgets and Unity Bantams this week.

The Battlefords Bantam Bandits are 4-7 with three games remaining in the season.

The Unity Rustlers won their first two games of the season, but since have one just one other game going 3-7 on the season. The Rustlers have four games to play or scores to report, as playoffs are scheduled to start July 2.

The Unity Bantam Panthers are 2-11 on the season with one score left to be reported from regular season play.

The Battlefords Surivivors are 1-8-1 on the year and have four game scores not reported.

Makeup games are expected to be complete Monday and Wednesday. The eight team playoff with start with a double header July 2 at the Flats with the team awards presented between games.
