Athletes who have dominated at the local Battle West Track and Field meet representing their schools had a strong showing in Meadow Lake last week representing the Rivers West District at the Saskatchewan Summer Games.
Wilkie's Kennedy Glassford won one the 12 Rivers West gold medals, as she won the female high jump event Friday. Kennedy also competed in pole vault and long jump.
Also in track and field, Medstead's Scott Seidle won gold in triple jump.
The equestrian dressage coed team also won gold during the second half of the games and Lashburn's Shae-Lynn Smith was a member of the first place team. Shae-Lynn also won bronze in the equestrian individual dressage coed event.
The other second half gold medal was won in triathlon, as Megan Mee also won a bronze medal.
Hafford's Braden Kowalchuk finished fourth in discus, but made the podium twice with silver in hammer throw and silver in shot put.
Justine Herle of Wilkie competed in just one event and earned silver in the female high jump event Friday.
The Rivers West triathletes also earned two silver medals as a team.
The softball team based out of Unity with players from Speers, Wilkie, Edam, Kindersley and Macklin earned bronze.
The male volleyball team also brought home a bronze home and track and field athletes contributed with six other bronze medals.
Rivers West finished with 46 medals total (12 gold, 13 silver, 21 bronze) and in seventh overall. Regina dominated the games with 113 medals (39 gold, 44 silver, 30 bronze).
