Two junior golfers who competed at the 2012 Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association's provincial golf championship at Kenose Lake in September were among the list of 13 to receive scholarships from Golf Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan Academic and Golf Excellence Scholarship program annually presents scholarships to deserving member golfers, who are in their pursuit of high school and post-secondary academic excellence.
The scholarships are based on academic excellence as well as recipients' golf achievements and abilities.
Kerstin Jenson of Wilkie was one of the two Garry Hayes Memorial Scholarship winners, as she received $523.13.
Kerstin tied for 10th at the high school grass green golf provincials in September.
Unity's Justin Wood was the recipient of the SGI Canada Scholarship for $1,000.
Justin also was one of 12 individuals to receive $450 in athlete assistance for 2012. Athlete Assistance is awarded by Golf Saskatchewan to deserving applicants to help subsidize expenses related to training costs, tuition fees at post-secondary institutions, lost wages for competing in tournaments and elite training camps.
Justin placed eighth at high school provincials in September. He also placed second in his age class in the Tour Championship and competed in Surrey, B.C. in the Junior Men's National Golf Championship in August.
