The Twin River Curling Club hosted its first playdowns at the Northland Power Curling Centre and it rocked.

Unfortunately, the two local rinks failed to advance to provincials, but the north will be well represented, as Trish Paulsen's rink from the Nutana Curling Club, Nancy Martin of the Nutana Curling Club, Jill Shumay of the Maidstone Curling Club and Brett Barber of the Biggar Curling Club advanced to provincials.

Paulson won the A final Saturday over Ros Stewart 7-6.

The Martin rink beat Barber 6-4 in the B final, but the Barber rink was able to recover from the loss and earn one of the C event qualifying spots. Shumay beat Stewart 10-2 in their C final while Barber beat Brenda Goertzen 8-6.

Provincials will be Jan. 23 to 27 in Balgonie.

Tina Hill's rink lost their first game 5-4 to Stewart, their second game 8-4 to Martin before winning their third game 9-4 over Rachel Fritzler. Shumay eliminated Hill Sunday afternoon in a C semi final.

For the Alana Love rink, it was a learning experience as they lost three straight games falling to Shumay, Goertzen and Amanda Labach.
