Eight teams gathered at the Battlefords Curling Club on the weekend to throw rocks at the house.

The Senior Women's Q-Spiel #3 took place Friday to Sunday with five draws featuring teams from Regina, Melville, Wadena, Prince Albert, Humboldt and three from Saskatoon.

In the A event, it was Delores Syrota of Wadena edging Brenda Goertzen of Saskatoon 11-5. Syrota's rink won 10-2 in their first game, 10-9 in their second game after needing to score four points in the 10th end to advance to the final.

After losing the A event final, Goertzen dropped to the B event where she lost to Peggy Fernquist of Saskatoon in the B final. Goertzen allowed three points in the ninth end and a steal of two in the 10th losing 10-5.

In the C final, Jacqueline Swiderski of Prince Albert beat Laura Jurgens 8-6 in the C final.

The final senior women's Q-spiel will be in Rosetown Feb. 9 with provincials to follow.

As for the local curling club, the Battlefords will again be the host for a qualifying event - the Senior Men's Regional Playdowns will begin Friday.
