Gudmandson named SJHL MVP

The accolades keep piling up for North Stars goaltender Michael Gudmandson.

Gudmandson was named the 2013-14 SJHL most valuable player earlier this week. The North Stars goalie won three player of the week awards, January's player of the month and was named the Kramer Division MVP earlier this month.

From Sherwood Park, Alta., Gudmandson joined the team in the middle of November as the North Stars were off to a slow 4-12 start to the season.

He put up a 20-3-1 record with the team, including four shutouts. Gudmandson posted a 1.74 goals-against average and a 0.944 save percentage as Battlefords climbed the standings to win the Kramer Division in the final game of the season.

Gudmandson has kept up his MVP form in the playoffs, so far. He has a 4-1 record with one shutout. He has a 0.944 save percentage with a 1.70 goals-against average in post-season play.

The North Stars continue their playoff push with two games at the Civic Centre this weekend as they start their semifinal series with the Melville Millionaires. Game one is Friday night, followed by game two Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
