They won Provincials last year and took the first step to repeating that performance last week.
The Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) senior girls' volleyball team hosted the North Regional Conference round-robin tournament on November 4. They were competing against teams from Warman and Clavet for the right to advance to Regionals.
HCI took to the court against Clavet in the first match.
In the first set, Clavet came out strong, dominating play to take a 20-10 lead. However, Humboldt's Brittany Bernauer got the team back into the game serving 10 in a row to tie the game at 20.
The Mohawks didn't look back, winning 25-23.
In the second set, Clavet could not handle Humboldt's strong serving and the Mohawks' heads-up play gained them a 16-9 lead. The final score was 25-16.

The second match saw Clavet take on Warman. Warman couldn't handle the strong Clavet offence, losing two straight on scores of 25-11 and 25-17.
HCI was back on the court for the third match, taking on Warman.
Humboldt took an early lead in the first set. With a score of 19-8, coach Rod Zwarych put his bench in and Warman was able to claw their way back to 21 points before the set ended.
In the second game, Humboldt's bench was out to prove themselves but came up short in a 25-23 Warman victory. Set three ended in a 25-20 score.
HCI now heads to Unity to play in the North Regional tournament on November 13.
