Not only was it the trade deadline for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, but the Western Hockey League, and all junior leagues, as well Tuesday.

North Battleford's Jordan Fransoo will be heading west, as the Brandon Wheat Kings pulled off a blockbuster trade Monday. Fransoo, an 18-year-old defenceman was traded to the Victoria Royals along with a 17-year-old left winger and first round draft pick for Kevin Sundher, a 19-year-old centre.

Sundher is seventh in WHL points and a Buffalo Sabres draft pick.

Fransoo was in his second season with the Wheat Kings and recorded 11 points in 41 games.

"In Fransoo, we dealt from a position of strength," explained Wheat Kings' general manager Kelly McCrimmon in a report on the WHL website. "We need to open up ice time for both Ayrton (Nikkel) and Dylan (Kuczek)."

Fransoo jumped to the WHL from the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League, where he spent one season with the Battlefords Stars and another with the Saskatoon Contacts.

Fransoo goes from a 22-17-1-1 team to a 13-24-2-3 team in Victoria, but both teams sit in eighth place in their respective conferences.
