Hitting the links with college team

UCHS 2013 graduate, Justin Wood is currently attending Lethbridge College where he plays on an eight player golf team. In each competition there are five players on the "team" and the other three compete individually.

Justin Wood is making his mark on the college golf scene while studying at Lethbridge College.


UCHS 2013 graduate, Justin Wood is currently attending Lethbridge College where he plays on an eight player golf team.


In each competition there are five players on the "team" and the other three compete individually. They have competed at two tournaments, the Open South Regional Tournament hosted by Lethbridge College, and the 2013 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Golf Championship hosted by Olds College Sept. 28-29.


Justin has been part of the team play for both tournaments, finishing second in the first tournament and tied for third in the championship. Lethbridge College finished second behind MacEwan University at the Lethbridge tournament and again finished second behind MacEwan University at the championship in Olds. The two top teams now travel to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association PING Golf National Championship in Quebec Oct. 15-18.


Justin has also qualified for the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour - Boston Pizza National Championship. This tournament is by invitation only based on a players' MJT Clevelend Golf Order of Merit points. This tournament is being held at the Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Fla. Nov 8-10. Along with this tournament is the opportunity to attend the Annika Academy. Hall of fame golfer Annika Sorenstam will lead the competitors in a skills clinic Friday, Nov. 8 prior to registration and the practice round.


Justin is studying business administration and marketing at college and is the son of Neil and Alice Wood of Unity. Alice says, " Justin is enjoying Lethbridge, the college experience and of course the golf, and he is very excited about his two upcoming competitions."
