Horseshoe club prepares for western tournament

Horseshoe Saskatchewan and the Battleford Horseshoe Club are hoping for good weather as they prepare to host the 2013 Western Canada Classic Horseshoe Tournament in North Battleford June 29th and 30th.

Horseshoe Saskatchewan and the Battleford Horseshoe Club are hoping for good weather as they prepare to host the 2013 Western Canada Classic Horseshoe Tournament in North Battleford June 29th and 30th.

This will include pitchers of all ages from across the western provinces and territories. There are over 50 participants registered so far including the Canadian Champion and several other top pitchers.

Team Matches between the provinces will be played on Friday evening with registration at 6:30 p.m. and play beginning at 7:00 p.m. Each team will play four games of 40 shoes, alternate pitch. Novelty prizes will be awarded to deserving players.

Individual competitions will be played on Saturday and Sunday with registration between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and play beginning at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. There will be a pancake breakfast on Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. and play to follow at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with prizes and award presentations at 5:00 p.m.

Triple S Concessions will be on site to provide food and refreshments.

The organizing committee is hopeful that the North Battleford and district residents will come out to cheer on their local players and all who enjoy the sport of horseshoes.
