The end of the horseshoe season will soon be here, but until then, local pitchers continue to hit their mark.

The local club hosted an annual horseshoe tournament during Northwest Territorial. Taking first place was Vern Bannerman. There was a three-way tie for second place between Peter and Doreen Dudek and William Wintonyk.

In fifth place, with the third best result was Marg Wintonyk.

Many of the locals also competed in Prince Albert recently and Howard Wietzel was first in the men's A event. Bannerman was second in the same event.

In the men's B event, Peter Dudek finished second with Frank Ironstand taking third place.

In the mixed class C division, Doreen Dudek was first with Ironstand fourth.

At the Canadian Championships in Blainville, Que. Bannerman continued to hit his mark, as he placed second in the men's B division.

In the ladies' D event, Marg Kemp took second place.

The local club will likely host a year end-wrap up tournament, but before that everyone is invited by the club and Eileen Kozakewich reminds anyone interested from seven to 90 to join the club and play until the end of September, for just three dollars.

Kozakewich was inducted into the Saskatchewan Horseshoe Hall of Fame earlier this summer and many of the other local players from the club have played anywhere from the local recreational level to nationals and are welcoming to all new players and are capable to teach anyone this sport.
