The Battlefords AAA Sharks' season came to an end Thursday, as they hosted the Notre Dame Hounds in game three of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League semifinal series.

The Sharks lost 12-2 on home ice, as the Hounds took the best-of-five series 3-0.

Battlefords surrendered five goals on 19 shots in the first period, but Delaney Ross struck twice for the Sharks, once on a nice breakaway deke that made it 5-2 heading into the second period. Taylor Durocher assisted on one of Ross's first period goals. Ross led the Sharks with three goals in three playoff games.

In the second, Notre Dame added four more goals. They finished the scoring with a power play maker with 18 seconds left in the third to make it three-straight games of scoring 12 goals.

Notre Dame put 43 shots, at the Sharks' net. Veteran starter Jacy Akre was ill and out of the lineup Thursday so 14-year-old rookie Rachel Mitchell got the call in net for the Sharks. She played well in the loss while the Hounds scored on five of their eight power play chances.

Notre Dame advanced to the SFMAAAHL semifinal were they will face Prince Albert.

The Sharks' season comes to an end, as three players - Jamie Fedler, Shayna Thomas and Tori Bonnett, all 1994-born players, suited out for their final games with the team.

The Sharks had four affiliated players suit up with them Thursday, but it was the second game in a matter of less than four hours, as they raced from the Don Ross Arena to the Battleford Arena, after the Midget A Sharks playoff game against Saskatoon completed.
