Humboldt brings home nine provincial medals

With spring in the air, many of the winter sports are wrapping up, including karate, who held their spring provincial championships in Wadena and Kuroki on April 14.

With spring in the air, many of the winter sports are wrapping up, including karate, who held their spring provincial championships in Wadena and Kuroki on April 14.

Humboldt sent a contingent of their own karateka’s to the competition, where they enjoyed a solid amount of success bringing home six gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze’s.

Dawson Demong-Moritz was one of the most successful of Humboldt’s karateka’s capturing gold medals in Male 10 and Under Novice Kumite, and Male 10 and Under Novice Kata, and teamed up with Easton Gosselin and Danica Leonard to

capture the Team Kata 13 and Under Novice provincial title.

Leonard meanwhile, added a pair of medals to her haul claiming a gold in the female 11-13 novice kata competition and a bronze in the female 11-13 novice kumite event.

Erin Cline also claimed a pair of gold medals finishing first in the 11-13 intermediate kumite, and kata events.

Rounding out the medal winners was Cameron Cline, who claimed a pair.

Cline managed a silver in the adult male intermediate kumite competition, and a bronze in the adult male intermediate kata event.
