Humboldt wants you to break a sweat.
One of the initiatives announced at the second community forum Nov. 13 was the intention to make the city an active community for all ages.
With that in mind, the City of Humboldt has created a new leisure pass card "to encourage increased accessibility and physical activity for residents of Humboldt and area," it was stated in a recent media release.
The leisure pass can be used at three of Humboldt's most popular recreational facilities: the aquatic centre, the Elgar Petersen Arena and the fitness room, all located at the Humboldt Uniplex.
Borrowing the idea from other communities, Michelle Smith, recreation program coordinator for the City of Humboldt said the intention is not just to encourage people to get active, but to "create value to those who use our programs and services the most."
The pass provides unlimited access to these facilities and their activities, from shinny hockey to aquacize classes, on a month-by-month basis.
Family, adult, student and seniors' passes are available for purchase at the Uniplex's administration centre.
For more information on prices, stop by the Uniplex at 619 17th Street, or phone the community and leisure services department at 306-682-2597.
