His first win for the Broncos was a shutout.
Michael Gudmandson, Humboldt's new netminder, won his first game for the Broncos on Sunday, and recorded his first shutout for the team at the same time.
The Broncos faced the LaRonge Ice Wolves in their last home game before Christmas on December 16 and won 5-0.
The Broncos came out of the players' box strong, netting their first goal at 4:01, thanks to Ryan Aubertin, assisted by Cody Pettapiece.
They continued to force play into the LaRonge end of the ice throughout the first period, and while they couldn't manage another goal, they did prevent LaRonge from scoring.
In the second, John Lawrence made it a 2-0 game with a power-play goal at 3:19, assisted by Adam Antkowiak and Cody Pongracz.
A fight broke out at the 7:36 mark of the period. When the dust settled, Bronco David Stumborg got two penalties - a minor for boarding and a major for fighting, while winger Pavlo Zerebecky of the Wolves got two minutes for instigating and another five for fighting. Another Wolf, Brendan Boyd, got a 10-minute misconduct, but no minor penalty to go along with it, as did Bronco Carter Page.
The altercation didn't seem to affect the Broncos' scoring chances, as just two minutes later, Christopher Manhas got Humboldt's third goal, assisted by Adam Zbitniff.
In the third, the Wolves finally stepped up their shots on goal to match the Broncos at 12 in the period, but Gudmandson held them off.
Meanwhile, Stumborg of the Broncos got another power-play goal for his team at 10:57. Getting the assists were Lawrence and Brandon Tidy.
Antkowiak rounded up scoring with a point of his own at 14:35, assisted by Logan Sproule.
A win for the Broncos wasn't unexpected when considering the shots on goal. Humboldt outshot LaRonge 47 to 26 over three periods, nine shots to 20 in the second period alone.
On the power play, the Broncos were two for four, while the Wolves were zero for one.
Just under 500 people attended the game at the Elgar Petersen Arena.
