The senior girls' 4A regional volleyball tournament for the north was held in Maidstone Nov. 12.

Teams were Maidstone, Hague, La Loche, Makwa Sahgaiehcan, Martensville and Spiritwood.

The day began with round robin play followed by the playoffs.

Maidstone's first game was against La Loche. La Loche won the first set with a score of 25-21 but Maidstone was able to win the other two sets 25-19 and 25-21.

Maidstone faced Hague next playing strong but losing in two sets. Hague moved into the playoffs facing and losing out to Martensville while Maidstone beat out Makwa Sahgaiehcan for a spot in the finals.

The Martensville and Maidstone teams headed into the game knowing they had both made it to provincials.

Martensville dominated the play and took home the gold medal beating Maidstone 25-10 and 25-20.

It has been a season of adventure for the Maidstone Huskies including a flu bug or food poisoning that had them running for the washrooms at a tournament where they eventually took home gold medals in Loon Lake and an accident with a moose on the highway near Lashburn after a game.

The Maidstone Huskies are looking forward to the excitement on the court this weekend at provincials in Rosetown.
