Huskies hand Rhinos their first loss

It took nine games, but the league-leading Rhinos were finally handed their first loss. North Battleford Touch Football League action resumed Tuesday at Beaver Lions Stadium and it was the Huskies improving to 7-1 on the season.

It took nine games, but the league-leading Rhinos were finally handed their first loss.

North Battleford Touch Football League action resumed Tuesday at Beaver Lions Stadium and it was the Huskies improving to 7-1 on the season. The Huskies beat the Rhinos 29-6, which put the Rhinos still in first place but at 8-1.

The other Tuesday evening games had the Broncos fall 30-12 to the Wanderers and the Gophers beat the Metaxxas Ball Busters 35-0.

Thursday, the Rhinos beat the Wanderers 42-7, the Huskies downed the Ball Busters 18-6 and the Gophers edged the Broncos 23-12.

The final scheduled day of the regular season was Thursday with one makeup games left to be played before playoffs.

It appears the Rhinos and Huskies will earn the first round byes in the playoffs while the 6-3 Gophers are positioned to play the 0-9 Ball Busters. The 4-5 Wanderers will play the 1-7 Broncos.

Playoffs are set to begin Tuesday with the two quarter-final games. The semifinal will be played Oct. 4 and the final is scheduled for Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Beaver Lions Stadium.
