For the first time in the history of the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League the Maidstone Jets have earned the right to hoist the league trophy.

The Jets finished the championship series with a 4-2 win in game five over the Meadow Lake Stampeders and took the series 4-1.

Three of the four games Maidstone won in the series came in Meadow Lake, as the third ranked team upset the Stampeders in the final.

Wednesday in Meadow Lake, the Jets trailed 1-0 after the first period, but scored three goals in the second and another in third period to take the game 4-2.

Saturday, Maidstone took control of the series with a 3-1 win on home ice. Brett Harrison and Ryan Johnston each had two points in the game while Jason Roberts and Rory Gregoire each had a goal for the Jets.

Jordan Keller had Meadow Lake's lone goal in game four.

Meadow Lake's Rick Dallyn started the game in net, but surrendered two goals in three minutes and was replaced by Jeff Vidal.

Dustin MacDonald played every game for the Jets on their run to the championship.

Maidstone becomes the fifth team in the league's 17-year history to win the championship.

Roberts, Harrison and Gregoire were the top three in playoff points.
